Your notes already hold the exam. The bottleneck is turning them into questions you can practice without penalty, before the real test. Here is how photo quality, OCR, and ABCD quizzes fit together.
Highlighting a page until it looks neon does not mean you can retrieve the idea under time pressure. - Parallel to the page. Shoot from above, not at a steep angle. Curve near a tight book binding distorts lines; press the page flat if you can do it without damaging the spine, or shoot one side at a time.
- Hold still, then check focus. Tap the text on screen and wait a beat. Motion blur is the silent quiz killer.
- Clean the lens. Fingerprints kill contrast on small print more than people expect.
- Prefer contrast. Dark ink on light paper. Pale blue gel on grey recycled paper is harder for every OCR stack.
After capture, skim the extracted text for obvious nonsense, wrong letters in headings, merged columns, or skipped bullet lists. Two minutes of checking saves twenty minutes of studying false questions.
A weak quiz asks for a word the page already screams in bold. A useful one forces a decision: cause vs effect, definition vs example, which step comes first. When you review AI-generated options, watch for:
- Plausible distractors. Wrong answers should be common mix-ups from the same chapter, not jokes.
- One clear best answer. If two options are both “kind of right,” rewrite or skip.
- No copy-paste stem. If the question quotes the sentence verbatim with one blank, you are testing recognition of ink, not understanding.
- Feedback after each item. Knowing why B was wrong is where MCQs earn their keep.

Match the format you will face in class when you can, but do not wait for perfect past papers. Your notes are enough to start.

When a diagram carries the meaning, capture the caption and the surrounding explanation pages well, then add one typed line yourself if a symbol set broke (“ΔH < 0 for this reaction”). Two-column textbook layouts sometimes merge columns left-to-right into nonsense sentences, shoot one column at a time if your first OCR pass looks scrambled.
PDFs exported from the school LMS are usually cleaner than phone photos of the same slides. Prefer the digital file when you have it; save camera captures for handwritten notebooks and bound books. Gallery imports still benefit from the same rule: if you would not hand that photo to a classmate to read aloud, do not hand it to OCR.
After a quiz generates, spot-check three random items against the page. If stems cite details that were never in your notes, discard that batch and regenerate from a tighter page set.
